Beards on a full mount

On a full-body turkey mount, the beard is set in its natural position — hanging vertical on a standing bird, flared forward on a full strut, or tucked to one side depending on the pose. We degrease, condition, and set the beard so it lays cleanly and holds its shape long term.

Standalone beard displays

A lot of hunters want the beard on its own — as a stand-alone plaque, in a shadow box with a hunt-data engraving, or grouped with beards from multiple birds. We do:

• Simple beard plaques with a hardwood back and brass hardware.
• Shadow boxes with beard, spurs, tag, shell, and a photo of the hunt.
• Multi-beard displays (Grand Slam, decade of turkeys, father-son bird collections).

Freezing a beard by itself

If you're not doing a full mount but still want to preserve the beard, cut it from the bird with a small oval of breast skin attached, salt the skin, and freeze it. Bring or ship it to us with any spurs and we'll finish the piece.

Caring for a finished beard

Wild turkey beards are keratin fibers, similar to hair. Keep them out of direct sunlight to avoid fading, don't handle them with oily hands (fingerprint oil dulls the black finish), and dust with a soft brush. Well-set beards hold their color for decades.
